Introduction

The Old Wash House

The lovely upper Usk Valley in the Brecon Beacons National Park is the peaceful location of The Old Wash House at Ynysmarchog in Trecastle (Trecastell). The name “Ynysmarchog” translated from Welsh means "Knight's Water Meadow” and is historically understood to refer to Sir Watkin Llwyd who was knighted at the battle of Agincourt. The farm dates from Elizabethan times and still retains a natural charm and peaceful location in a spectacular region within the Brecon Beacons National Park. You’ll come to The Old Wash House if you are looking for something a little different for your holiday. Peace and quiet, natural beauty, outdoor pursuits or perhaps a wander around this historically rich area.
